It is sometimes used in the human food industry as a firming agent, where it takes on E number E520, and in animal feed as a bactericide. Aluminum sulfate may be used as a deodorant, an astringent, or as a stiptic for superficial shaving wounds. It is a common vaccine adjuvant and works "by facilitating the slow release of antigen from the vaccine depot formed at the site of inoculation."
Aluminium sulphate is a solid crystalline substance of white colour with general formula Al 2 (SO 4) 3 ∙ n Н 2 О. It is produced as a form of fine-dispersed powder with fraction 0-0,5 mm or 0-1 mm.
Anhydrous aluminum sulfate is a white crystalline solid. Aluminum sulfate is also obtained as an 18-hydrate Al2(SO4)3.18H2O. Both forms are soluble in water, noncombustible, and nontoxic. The primary hazard is the threat to the environment.
The chemical formula of aluminium sulfate is Al2 (SO4)3. Color of iron sulphate? IF it is ferrous sulphate then green will be its colour. IF it is ferric sulphate, then it will be brownisn.
Colour: White Odour: odourless Substance type: inorganic Conclusions: Aluminium sulphate, anhydrous, is solid at ambient temperature. Executive summary: A reference handbook, also cited in a reference database, describes the anhydrous form of the substance as white, lustrous crystals, pieces, granules, or powder, with no odour.

Aluminium sulphate is the most widely used aluminium coagulant (Section 8.20).It is available in a number of solid grades such as block, kibbled or ground and is also available as a solution typically containing 8–8.3% w/w Al 2 O 3.In waterworks practice aluminium sulphate is frequently but incorrectly referred to as ‘alum’.
